A joint announcement between SCARD Systems and SCARD Inc
You would not often measure success by destroying a viable income stream, but that is precisely how we feel about transitioning to SCARD Inc.
As we reflect on the inaugural year of Skin Cancer Audit and Research Data Inc (SCARD Inc), we announce the official recognition as a Charity by the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission of Skin Cancer Audit and Research Data Inc (SCARD Inc) with a profound sense of achievement and optimism. This milestone represents a significant evolution from our origins as SCARD Systems and heralds a new chapter in our commitment to combating skin cancer.
The journey of SCARD began in 2007 with the SCARD Surgical Audit, a pioneering initiative aimed at supporting primary care practitioners in managing and treating skin cancer. Over the years, our focus has expanded, culminating in establishing SCARD Inc. This transition reflects our broader mission to advance skin cancer research, improve prevention and diagnosis, and enhance treatment outcomes by collecting, managing, and analysing de-identified data.
In our first year as a non-profit, we have laid a strong foundation for future growth. Our activity statements from March to December 2023 highlight our financial prudence and dedication to our cause. We’ve managed resources efficiently, as evidenced by our (lack of) GST transactions and various expenses related to registrations, hosting, and educational activities. These efforts underscore our commitment to operational excellence and transparency.
SCARD Inc. is poised to make an even more significant impact as we progress. With charity status, we are now better positioned to attract funding, partnerships, and community support. We sincerely thank our supporters, volunteers, and partners who share our vision. Together, we will continue to strive for advancements in skin cancer research, aiming to save lives and reduce the disease’s impact on individuals and families across Australia and beyond.
Of course, there are more legal hurdles to conquer over the coming 12 months as we complete the move, but we are committed to the future of SCARD.
